What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a conservative approach to health care that does not involve the use of surgery or pharmaceuticals. Chiropractic loosely translates from Greek to “to practice using hands”. As such, the cornerstone of chiropractic care is manual therapy, which mostly includes chiropractic adjustments and myofascial (muscle) manipulation.

Over the years chiropractic has evolved from a relatively straight-forward profession where the chiropractic adjustment was the only treatment provided to now where there are specialties in sports medicine, nutrition, functional medicine, neurology, and pediatrics to name a few.  This has had a tremendous positive influence on the profession as it has led to better training and patient-centered care in the chiropractor’s respective field. The downside is most of the public and medical community is still unaware of the profession’s advancements over the years.
